Great Ways to Raise Funds for Disaster Victims
(source)Did you know that you can help out local disaster victims simply by wearing your favorite pair of jeans to work?
On Friday, March 28 the Heart of Tennessee Chapter of American Red Cross is having “Denim for Disaster” Day. Local businesses and employers are encouraged to get involved by signing up to participate. Employees can pay $5 on or before March 28th and then wear their favorite pair of jeans to work that Friday.
One person per company would be assigned to be in charge of the program to collect $5 from each employee that wants to participate. For all companies that sign up, the Red Cross will hand deliver “Denim for Disaster” packets that include a money collection envelope, information about the local Red Cross, posters about the event, as well stickers for each employee to wear that day that read “I’m working for Disaster Victims Today!”
After March 28 the Red Cross will contact the person who was assigned to be in charge of the program for each company to collect the envelopes.
While this event is specific to an area within Tennessee, you just might find that, if you’re looking for a great way to support disaster victims this sort of fundraising event can be repeated in other communities as well.
The key to planning disaster relief fundraising activities is to get other staff involved, to talk with the management at your company and to coordinate the event with the Red Cross - that really is all that there is to it!
